Management solution for on-demand content in broadband or broadcast network. It forms the main interface for handling on-demand content, publishing metadata and managing content distribution devices. It is a solution for managing and distributing VOD, NVOD, and Push-VOD services. It integrates with video servers, head-end equipment, CAS, subscriber management and billing systems and provides all the necessary functions for creating flexible and extensive service offering.

Ortikon solution is open for operators to freely choose any video server with enough capacity to handle the extensive content load. The server just needs to be able to simultaneously ingest, store and stream video streams and have enough storage capacity.

Hybrid solution

ORTIKON ACE® - hybrid solution is combining digital video broadcasting (DVB) and IP-based video. Hybrid is the recent major innovation bringing together IPTV and traditional television into a single, comprehensive offering.

Ortikon hybrid solution enables broadcasters and network operators to offer their customers standard digital TV (DVB-T/C/S) one-way services via broadcast network as well as new interactive services, like Video-On-Demand (VOD) through IP network. Hybrid draws together the best features of both media.

For television viewers the hybrid offers the same viewing experience regardless of the origin of the contents as changing between DVB and IP services is seamless. Ortikon has paid special attention to user interface design to aesthetically attract the viewer and to offer him or her easy access to any services.

Time-shift TV

Time-shift TV changes television from schedule-driven to more on-demand by letting the viewers more freely control what to see and when to see it. Time-shift operations come true with network PVR, which stores live TV video streams centrally and enables playing them out in a Video-on-Demand manner.

For the consumer Time-shift TV offers flexibility and convenience. While live TV program is running, the user can start the program over. The system also allows the viewer to catch up on programme after its TV broadcast by selecting it from the catch-up VOD portal. Also, the user can pause live TV program, restart it from the pause, rewind, fast-forward and pause again.

As well as from the services themselves, the consumers expect high quality from the TV user interface. Ortikon has paid special attention to designing the user interface to inform and attract the viewer but also to help the operator to customise its offerings.
